SOLAR EYE

This NEW MOON at 18 degrees of FIRE SIGN LEO (August 9, 11:08pm EDT; August 10, 4:08am GDT) carries an interesting Sabian symbol. These symbols give an image for each degree of the zodiac, revealing something about the nature of our experience at this point of the 360 degree circle. Here is what we are doing this month:

CHEMIST CONDUCTS AN EXPERIMENT BEFORE HIS STUDENTS
This is a litmus test of theory into reality.
With increasing solar flare activity sending streams of excited electromagnetic energy our way. we are very interested to see what new experiments are on hand as our planet is bathed in the high solar winds, charged up from top-down as excited photons make their way through the higher atmospheres to Earth's surface, and from inside-out as the north and south poles pull the energy into Earth's core. Things are heating up and we try to explain this awakening as global warming.

The MAJOR PLANETARY PATTERN IN CARDINAL SIGNS, that pushes us to our creative edge, remains in full force. This New Moon catches the last few days, the last few rays, of Uranus in Aries before it retreats back into Pisces on Friday the 13th. Jupiter will remain in Aries through the first week in September, popping up with new ideas and opportunities that expand beyond outworn belief systems of what we used to think possible. Are you open? Welcome to the Starship Enterprise, whose missions is to go where no one has gone before! Uranus and Jupiter will pick up the pace, putting us in warp speed, as we head into 2011.

LOVERS UNITE
We're feeling personal emotional implications now with the addition of Mars and Venus into Libra. We have an unusual alignment of Saturn, Venus and Mars really close together in the early evening sky. Have you seen it?
Tune in a special showing as the crescent Moon joins this fairly rare alignment. The peak night is Thursday, August 12. It will be a WOW celestial gathering, followed by the peak of the annual Perseid meteor showers. What a cosmic show!

In the sign of Libra, these planets are arranging a series of encounters, dialogues, negotiations. Relationships of all types are being put to the litmus test of Saturn. Venus and Mars are personal planets. Now hunkered with serious, responsible Saturn in the thicket of the cardinal pattern with the bigger players—Pluto the Transformer and a dynamic combo of Uranus the Awakener with Jupiter the Amplifier, the mythic lovers are on a cosmic course of rebalancing the masculine and feminine in our lives, outer and inner. This is one of the main themes for the next few months.

Some months ago I mentioned the practice of sacred reciprocity called "ayni" by the Laika wisdom keepers in Peru. Alberto Villoldo talks about this as the deep core knowing that live in a continuous sacred interchange with everything that is. Our food, even the air we breathe, everything in is relationship. When we take and give back in conscious exchange, we help maintain the balance in life. This requires vigorous alertness to our responsibility in every moment. One of my goddess scholar heroines, Patricia Monaghan, author of the Encyclopedia of Goddesses and Heroines, along with volumes of poetry and other rich research works (including the new 3-volume series GODDESSES IN WORLD CULTURE-see announcement below), sent along this link to
an amazing speech by Aleut elder Larry Mercurieff to the World Wilderness Conference in Mexico last year, in which he says that the problem of global warming stems from "a great masculine imbalance" and a "smashing of all things that were sacred in the feminine," which caused "a massive disconnection from heart and relationship." He says that the restoration of the feminine, and especially of the goddess, will be necessary to sustain human life on earth. CELESTIAL FIREWORKS

As the cosmic influx lights up our star bodies, we are losing memories that we tend to identify with as this life's story. We are re-weaving our experience and refreshing the myths of our lives to synchronize with the Big Dream.

Bashar, a channeled entity, speaks of negotiating with our ego in order to have its cooperation in forwarding the vision of our higher selves as we see new possibilities. It's hard to go cold turkey and make big changes. The ego resists and can undermine in a blind attempt to save us from ourselves!
The ego has a self-protecting mode that keeps us on a "safe" and narrow path based on its belief systems about how life is. Some of these belief systems were established when we were small children; some from past influences that we carry in our energy fields.

Leo is a sign very aware of the ego, of the small and capital "S" selves, the "I" and the "Eye". Libra is the sign of negotiating. Let's find the win-win within ourselves, being gentle in the midst of our "growing" pains, anxious panic moments, and doubts. Sooth the ego, not with addictive rewards but with praise. It's doing a great job as we dream ourselves into being the stars we truly are.

We are all needing reassurance that we're not behind schedule in all this cosmic excitement. It takes time. As time is narrowing its horizontal flow and extending its vertical axis, we feel that we have less time. As our higher minds open we will find that "time" is increasingly spacious. That's a physics concept we can use to our advantage!

But we do need to keep on track, doing what we feel to do and, so important now, to stay in contact, in discussion with each other about what we are experiencing, feeling, doing. Just talking it out can help put things in perspective. It also helps to know we are all feeling this new energy without always knowing what to do with it.

Of all signs, LEO likes to have FUN! It's a naturally expressive and creative sign! The creative spirit of the universe is immense. Astronomers describe awesome galactice phenomenon of "unspeakable beauty and unimaginable bedlam." Just because the universe has a lot more imagination that we do, do we need to call it "bedlam"? Beneath or beyond the bedlam, the heart of beauty makes the stars shine. ENJOY.
