Asteroids

Once upon a time, in the early days of the solar system, one planet was shattered by some large impact, so it is thought. Thousands of pieces, of various shapes and sizes, are still orbiting the Sun, mainly between Mars and Jupiter. Over 6000 such asteroids have been named‹after mythic figures from all cultures, for scientists and astronauts, for cities and countries; many have Chinese or Russian names. Astrologers often use the first four that were discovered and named after Greek goddesses. Ceres is the goddess of grain. Like Mother Nature, she feeds and nurtures, tending the Earth and all creatures on it. Ceres gives an affinity for ecology and child-care as well as the tending of body and soul. It shows where you nourish and are nourished.
Pallas Athena is the goddess of craft, wisdom and strategy. In your chart, she shows where you have some creative gift, intelligence and clarity of insight.
Juno is the Queen, consort of Jupiter. She commands commitment, mutual respect and a sense of the ceremonial. She points out an active dynamic needed in intimate partnership and what kind of commitment you seek in your life.
Vesta is the goddess of hearth and home, of the sacred fire that offers spiritual protection and safe haven. She tends the flame with a focused devotion that is more than personal. She show s where you are invested in such a one-pointed way.
Lilith, asteroid #1108, is one of the most ancient mythic figures. She challenged gender-biased social conventions and shows where you will not acquiesce to gender-based role definitions in your life. For more on Lilith, see section on The Cosmic Feminine.
